Bolivia offers NSA leaker Snowden asylum

Add Bolivia to the list of countries offering asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

{mosads}Evo Morales, Bolivia’s president, said Snowden would be welcome in the country, according to USA Today.

Venezuela and Nicaragua have also offered asylum to Snowden.

Last week, a plane carrying Morales was rerouted to Vienna after it was not given permission to land in France. The plane was reportedly denied clearance to land because Snowden was thought to be on board.

Morales is making the asylum offer in response to the suggestion that his plane was carrying the former government contractor.

Snowden has been seeking asylum since he came forward as the person who leaked information on multiple secret government surveillance programs. Since then he has asked for asylum from almost two dozen countries, some of which have rejected his request.

Snowden is believed to be hiding out in Moscow’s airport while he seeks asylum.
