John Kerry’s wife admitted in critical condition to hospital

Teresa Heinz Kerry, the wife of secretary of State John Kerry, is at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she is receiving medical care for an undisclosed condition.

“The family is grateful for the outpouring of support it has received and aware of the interest in her condition, but they ask for privacy at this time,” said Glen Johnson, a spokesman for Kerry, according to reports.

{mosads}Heinz Kerry and John Kerry were at their residence on Hurlbert Avenue in Nantucket on Sunday, when she suffered a medical episode. An ambulance rushed her to Nantucket Cottage Hospital at 3:30 p.m., where she was admitted in critical, but stable, condition.

“She was brought in, in critical but stable condition, and that is currently how … her condition still remains,” Noah Brown, a spokesman for the Nantucket Cottage Hospital told The Boston Globe Sunday afternoon.

“At this point, we are determining the next phase of her care, be that either in our facility on the island, or on the mainland,” he added.

Once her condition stabilized Heinz Kerry was flown to Boston, accompanied by John Kerry, to receive additional care.

CNN reported that Heinz Kerry had suffered from a seizure like symptoms, but hospital officials and the family have declined to disclose her condition.

Heinz Kerry, 74, married John Kerry in 1995. Her first husband was former Sen. John Heinz (R-Pa.), who died in 1991 in a plane accident.
