Poll: Plurality support ending Senate filibuster

{mosads}According to lawmakers, President Obama will be required to pick two new nominees to the National Labor Relations Board to replace two pending nominees he had recess-appointed in 2012. Republicans objected to that move, and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals later ruled that it was illegal.

In exchange, Republicans will allow final up-or-down votes on Richard Cordray, Obama’s choice to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, as well as a third nominee to the board. Republicans are also expected to allow the president’s nominees to head the Labor Department and Environmental Protection Agency to proceed.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had threatened to change the Senate rules to eliminate the ability to filibuster nominees had Republicans not relented.

The survey by Rasmussen interviewed 1,000 likely voters and carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
