Anti-Trump activists to set up permanent protest location in DC

A group of anti-Donald Trump activists are planning to open a permanent Washington location near both the White House and Capitol Hill to organize protests against the president-elect.

The group, which has dubbed its meeting location “District 13” in reference to the “Hunger Games” series, told The Guardian it hopes to open a meeting house as a home base for protests by Inauguration Day.

{mosads}”Ultimately it’s to make sure we hold him accountable,” Moumita Ahmed, the founder of Millennials for Revolution, told The Guardian. “Because his presidency is not normal at all. It’s our duty to make sure he doesn’t succeed.

“If he succeeds it’s a message that everything he stood for is OK. That it’s OK to get to power in the way that he did, and hurt all the people he’s hurt.”

According to Ahmed, the house will serve as a place for protesters from anti-Trump organizations across the country to quickly organize demonstrations in Washington during Trump’s presidency. One activist told The Guardian it is a “space for the best kinds of troublemakers from around the country.”

The group set up a crowdfunding page in hopes of raising $30,000 for the house.

District 13 is run largely by millennial women of color, many of whom supported Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders during the presidential primaries.
