Spicer: Twitter will be ‘really exciting part’ of Trump’s presidency
President-elect Donald Trump’s use of Twitter in the White House will be “a really exciting part of the job,” the incoming White House press secretary said Monday.
Sean Spicer told Rhode Island’s WPRI that Trump will continue using Twitter as a “direct pipeline” of communication with Americans.
“I think that his use of social media in particular … is gonna be something that’s never been seen before,” Spicer said. “He has this direct pipeline to the American people, where he can talk back and forth.”
{mosads}“He can put his thoughts out and hear what they’re thinking in a way that no one’s ever been able to do before,” Spicer added.
“I mean, he does communicate in a much bigger way than there’s ever been before, and I think that’s gonna be just a really exciting part of the job.”
Trump often used Twitter to air grievances with opponents and the media throughout his campaign, and has continued to use the platform since winning the election last month.
In a series of tweets Monday, Trump claimed Christmas spending increased this year because of his win, insisted there was “NO WAY!” President Obama would’ve beaten him if he had run, described the U.N. as “a club for people to get together” and claimed he gave his personal money to the Donald J. Trump Foundation — a fact that has yet to be verified since he has not released his tax returns.
