Trump-owned resort sold tickets to New Year’s party with Trump

The private Florida resort owned by President-elect Donald Trump sold 800 tickets to a New Year’s Eve party featuring an appearance by Trump and his family.

Sean Spicer, Trump’s incoming White House press secretary, said Friday on a conference call with reporters that the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., sold 800 tickets to the “sold out” event, which will feature appearances by Trump, his wife Melania Trump, son Barron and actor Sylvester Stallone.

Trump’s team did not say the cost of a ticket or of membership to Mar-a-Lago. Politico first reported on the event.

The New Year’s party includes a cocktail hour, a live band performance and dinner and dancing until 1 a.m.

Critics have raised questions about Trump’s businesses and whether the president-elect will be able to fully manage potential conflicts of interest.

Trump has pledged to keep his business interests separate from the presidency and has indicated that he is working on the legal process of passing his real estate empire to his adult children.

Trump spokesman Hope Hicks slammed the idea that Trump’s resort selling tickets to an event the president-elect will appear at is a conflict of interest.

“The transition is not concerned about the appearance of a conflict,” she told Politico.

“This is an annual celebratory event at the private club, like others that have continued to occur since the election. Additionally, the president cannot and does not have a conflict.”
