Politicians post New Years wishes

Scores of politicians took to Twitter on Jan. 1 to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, President-elect Donald Trump and Secretary of State John Kerry, among many others, expressed well wishes on the social media platform.

Obama used the start of 2017 as a chance to list his accomplishments during his time in the White House.

Trump posted a tweet at midnight wishing Americans a Happy New Year. Trump had tweeted earlier on Saturday he wished well his “many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do.”

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said 2017 will be a pivotal year for politics.

Other politicians took to Twitter to share well wishes.
