Pro-Obama group releases new ad backing economic pivot

Organizing for Action, the group descended from President Obama’s presidential campaign, plans to release a new ad aimed at helping the president shift the national focus to the economy and job creation.

The ad set for release Friday quotes from an economic speech the president delivered Wednesday at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. 

“Thanks to the grit, the resilience, the determination of the American people, we’ve been able to clear away the rubble from the financial crisis,” Obama says in the ad. “But we’re not there yet.”

The president then goes on to stress the importance of reducing economic inequality, raising the minimum wage and expanding access to early education.

Organizing for Action did not disclose how much it’s spending on the ad campaign. The ad is set to air on cable television over the next two weeks.

House Republicans were quick to denounce Obama’s Wednesday speech, saying it was just a repeat of arguments the president has previously made.

“The president himself said it isn’t going to change any minds,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said after the speech. “All right, well. So exactly what will change? What’s the point? What’s it going to accomplish?

“You probably got the answer: Nothing.”
