Clinton aide slams FBI director for not disclosing Trump’s alleged ties to Russia

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign manager said he is stunned FBI Director James Comey did not report allegations that Donald Trump’s team has been in communications with Russia.

“CNN: James Comey was given information about Trump exchanges with Russia last year, but no letter to Congress (& the voters)? Stunning,” Robby Mook, Clinton’s campaign manager, wrote in a tweet responding to a CNN report released Tuesday night.

CNN reported Tuesday that Trump and President Obama were briefed on allegations, contained in a dossier written by a former British intelligence operative that began as opposition research, that Trump’s team had been in communication with Russian officials, and that the Russian government held compromising information on the president-elect.

Mook implied that Comey was not applying an equal standard to Trump as he did to Clinton; just 11 days before the U.S. election on Nov. 8, Comey wrote a letter notifying lawmakers of new emails that were potentially related to its investigation into her private email server.

Just two days before the election, the FBI said this new evidence warranted no new action against Clinton.
