Lincoln Memorial closed after vandals splatter green paint
{mosads}The Washington Post reported that police are reviewing surveillance footage to determine who may have been responsible. The paper also reported that no other monuments on the National Mall showed signs of vandalism.
The memorial was dedicated in 1922, and served as the iconic backdrop to events like Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech.
With the memorial’s temporary shuttering, two of the major tourist attractions on the National Mall are now shuttered. The Washington Monument has been closed to visitors since a 5.8-magnitude earthquake cracked parts of the structure in August 2011.
