Feinstein undergoes pacemaker procedure
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) had a pacemaker installed on Tuesday, according to a statement from her office.
“The decision to install the pacemaker was made after consulting with her doctor and was undertaken out of an overabundance of caution,” the statement says.
“The 90-minute, non-emergency procedure at George Washington University Hospital went smoothly and she will return to a full schedule very soon.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Feinstein, who serves as the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, attended the first day of confirmation hearings for Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions, hammering the Alabama senator as marred by political bias. She is skipping Wednesday’s witness testimony in front of the panel.
{mosads}“There is a deep fear about what a Trump administration will bring in many places, and this is the context in which we must consider Sen. Sessions’s record,” she said.
Feinstein, 83, is currently the oldest person in the Senate.
