A Democratic lawmaker rushed to defend Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) on Twitter on Saturday after President-elect Donald Trump targeted Lewis.
Lewis “is a hero and I’m lucky to call him a colleague. You sir are not half the man he is,” Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.) tweeted.

Trump slammed Lewis on Twitter early Saturday morning, calling the civil rights leader “all talk” and “no action or results.” He also took aim at Lewis’ congressional district, saying it was crime ridden and “falling apart.”
{mosads}Lewis on Friday said that he didn’t view the president-elect as legitimate because of Russian efforts to influence the election in favor of Trump. He also announced that he would not attend Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
“I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” Lewis said in an interview on “Meet the Press.”
