Dukakis: Trump should ‘get off that Twitter thing’

Former Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis on Friday urged President-elect Donald Trump to get off twitter.

“It’s time for Trump to get off Twitter and start acting like the president of the United States because he’s got a lot of work ahead of him. He’s got important decisions to make and this kind of nonsense has really got to stop,” Dukakis said in an interview with New York’s WABC.

Dukakis also blasted Trump for his criticism of Hillary Clinton during the election.

“He ought to be ashamed of himself for this kind of stuff, calling her a crook and that kind of nonsense,” said the former Democratic nominee. “She’s a good person.”

{mosads}During his interview, Dukakis also ridiculed Trump for his tweet criticizing the Arnold Schwarzenegger’s performance on the “New Celebrity Apprentice.”

“He ought to get off that Twitter thing. I mean, what is he doing at three in the morning and commenting on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s performance on ‘The Apprentice’? Give me a break. I mean, look, he’s going to be the president of the United States, he’s got major, major things to be concerned about,” he said.

In his tweet last week, Trump said that Schwarzenegger got “destroyed” in comparison to his own past performance on the show.

“Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got ‘swamped’ (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT,” Trump tweeted.

“So much for being a movie star – and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1,” he added.

Trump’s latest twitter feud kicked off Saturday morning when the president-elect fired back at Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) for questioning the legitimacy of his presidency.

Trump accused Lewis, a prominent civil rights leader in the 1960’s, of not doing enough for his district and delivering “no action or result.”

His response sparked a series of denunciations by Democratic lawmakers who criticized the president-elect for attacking Lewis’s legacy.
