John Lewis honors MLK: He was like a big brother

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in a series of tweets on Monday.

The Democratic congressman, who representing a district in Georgia, wrote on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that King “was like a big brother.”

Lewis, a civil rights icon himself, used Twitter to post thoughts and photos of King.

Lewis recently made headlines when he said he thought President-elect Donald Trump was not a “legitimate president.” On Saturday, Trump responded to Lewis’s remarks, saying on Twitter that Lewis was “all talk” and “no action.”

A bipartisan wave of politicians criticized Trump for his response to Lewis. Trump’s transition team defended the president-elect, saying Lewis’s initial comments were “disappointing.”
