Pence visits MLK memorial to honor civil rights leader
Vice President-elect Mike Pence visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Monday to pay his respects to the civil rights leader.
Pence posted photos of the visit on his Twitter account.
“Honored to stop by Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial with my family & @SenatorTimScott. ‘Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of home,’” Pence tweeted along with three photos.

{mosads}Pence and his family participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at King’s memorial, which sits at the end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The Trump transition team said President-elect Donald Trump would meet with King’s oldest son, Martin Luther King III, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Trump Tower in New York City. The meeting comes just a after Trump slammed Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the last living speaker from the historic March on Washington, for saying Trump was not a “legitimate president.”
