On Monday, Nuzzi wrote a story on the blog NSFWCORP claiming that Weiner’s campaign had lost more personnel than it had admitted and that Weiner’s campaign manager had quit after the candidate “lied to him about the timing of his sexting scandal.”
She followed that piece with a story in the Daily News on Tuesday in which she mocked the “short resumes” of fellow staffers and claimed that many were only on the campaign to gain favor with Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife and a close aide to former Secretary of State and potential presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Weiner on Tuesday released a new video in which he refused to abandon his campaign despite falling poll numbers and calls for his withdrawal.
“Quit isn’t the way we roll in New York City,” the former congressman says in the minute-long video, adding that “we fight through tough things, we’re a tough city.”
