Obama leaves office with highest approval rating since ’09

President Obama will leave the White House with his highest approval rating since his first year in office, according to a new poll.

Obama will end his two terms as president with a 60 percent approval rating, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday — his highest mark since June 2009. 

Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan beat Obama’s rating, with Clinton ending his two terms with a 66 percent approval rating and Reagan closing out his presidency with a 64 percent approval rating, according to CNN.

{mosads}The CNN poll also found that Obama was viewed as one of the greatest presidents.

Twenty-five percent of Americans say Obama is one of the greatest presidents — a markedly higher rating than Reagan, who had 11 percent support for that assessment of his presidency, and Clinton, who had 10 percent.

The CNN poll also found Obama has a 63 percent favorability rating as he leaves office.

The CNN/ORC poll of 1,000 adults was conducted from Jan. 12 to 15. The poll has a 3-point margin of error.
