Paul invites Christie for a beer

Paul’s comments suggest that the spat between the two prominent Republicans may soon come to an end. Earlier, he told a New Hampshire radio station he wanted to “ratchet down” the fight with Christie.

{mosads}Both Christie and Paul have been mentioned as potential presidential candidates in 2016.

The skirmishes started Thursday when Christie, speaking at the Aspen institute, warned about the “dangerous” streak of libertarianism running through the Republican Party on national security. The comment was directed at Paul, one of the more prominent Republican libertarians in Congress.

Since then Paul and Christie have been exchanging blows in various TV and radio appearances. On Tuesday Paul called Christie the “king of bacon” for his dependence on federal funding. Christie punched back saying that Paul “should start cutting the pork barrel spending he brings home to Kentucky.”
