PolitiFact trolls Trump during inauguration speech
PolitiFact trolled President Trump during his inaugural address Friday with a tweet correcting his false claim that he won the 2016 election in a landslide.
“Donald Trump has claimed a landslide victory. That’s False,” the news organization tweeted with a link to its story detailing his Electoral College victory — but popular vote loss — from last year.

PolitiFact, a news organization that ranks statements from politicians on a “Truth-O-Meter,” has fact-checked Trump 348 times, it tweeted Friday. Half of Trump’s statements they have check landed on the “False” or “Pants on Fire” end of the spectrum.

Trump won the 2016 election with 306 electoral votes. When the Electoral College voted in December, two Republicans wrote in other candidates.

Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton, who attended Trump’s inauguration alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton, won the popular vote in the 2016 election by more than 3 million votes. She won 227 electoral votes in December after four Democratic voters cast their ballots for someone else.
Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States Friday. He gave his inaugural address immediately thereafter, where he said his presidency would “give power” back to Americans outside of Washington.
