Rangel: Tea Party activists are ‘white crackers’
“They didn’t care about how they looked. It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused America to say enough is enough. ‘I don’t want to see it and I am not a part of it.’ What the hell! If you have to bomb little kids and send dogs out against human beings, give me a break.”
{mosads}But Rangel had praise for a few Republicans. He mentioned New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, citing Christie’s criticism of House Republicans for delaying a vote on federal relief aid for states hit by Hurricane Sandy last year.
“Chris Christie, who is a big Northeasterner, and people only go for Christie because he is reasonable. He says something nice about the president helping out Jersey and now he is on the hit list by Republicans,” Rangel said.
Tea Party Republicans are also going after Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), Rangel said.
“And now my friend Peter King is on their hit list. Peter King, a Republican, is considered a goddamn communist,” Rangel said.
Rangel’s comments come in the aftermath of a spat between Christie and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) which started out as a disagreement on foreign policy. King weighed in on Christie’s side, criticizing Paul and his supporters.
“He talks about us wanting to start wars and somehow people enjoy war and he does talk about how we want to bomb everything. Is that what he thinks our military does?” King said of Paul during an interview with CNN on Wednesday.
