At 92 years old, Bush is the oldest living president, just a few months older than ex-President Jimmy Carter.
Bush has been hospitalized at other times in recent years. In 2015, he was hospitalized in Houston for shortness of breath. Later that year, Bush was taken to a hospital in Portland, Maine, after fracturing a bone in his neck.
The couple did not attend President Trump’s inauguration on Friday, due to the hospitalizations, while their son former President George W. Bush and Carter attended the ceremonies.
