George W. Bush released from hospital and ‘doing great’
Former President George W. Bush left the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday after undergoing surgery to open up a blocked artery.
A spokesman for the 43rd President told The Associated Press he is “doing great” after being discharged from the hospital.
{mosads}Doctors found the artery blockage Monday during a routine checkup and implanted a heart stent Tuesday to relieve it.
The 67-year-old Bush is known for his superior fitness. Karen Hughes, a Bush aide, told USA Today that the surgery would not slow him down.
“Are you kidding? He’s already talking resuming a normal schedule the day after tomorrow,” Hughes said on Tuesday.
President Obama wished Bush well after hearing about the surgery on Tuesday.
