Paul says he welcomes Palin endorsement
{mosads}Palin said she was on “Team Rand” this week after Christie and Paul engaged in a high-profile spat about the reach of government surveillance programs and government spending.
“I love an endorsement by Sarah Palin. What is not to like?” Paul asked on CNN.
Paul said criticism of National Security Agency surveillance programs has endeared him to a younger generation of voters and has hurt President Obama.
“ ‘Team Rand,’ whatever that means, can include a lot of people,” he said. “What I have been telling people is I want to grow the Republican Party, and that means some of the libertarian ideas.”
Paul again attempted to end his tiff with Christie by offering to travel to New Jersey and share a few beers. Christie has previously said he was too busy to have a conciliatory drink with Paul.
Paul refused to weigh in on another potential GOP candidate for president, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). There have been questions about Cruz’s eligibility to run for president because he was born in Canada to an American mother. However, most agree he would be able to run.
“You won’t find me questioning his eligibility,” Paul said. “I decided a long time ago I wasn’t going to be a birther for Democrats. I’m not a birther for Republicans. I’m staying out of that.”
