Women’s march organizers return to DC to protest Sessions

Organizers from the Women’s March on Washington are back in the nation’s capital to protest the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) as attorney general. 

“His record shows that, if confirmed, he would reverse decades of civil rights progress for women, African Americans, the LGBTQIA community and recent immigrants,” organizers wrote on their Facebook page ahead of Tuesday’s rally.

Protestors early Tuesday began gathering outside the Dirksen Senate office building, where the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to approve Sessions before sending his nomination to the full Senate for a vote.

Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.) will reportedly join two of the co-chairs of the Women’s March during the rally against Sessions, Politico reported. They will also be joined by representatives from the Center for American Progress and the NAACP.

The Women’s March drew half a million people to Washington, D.C., last Saturday in protest of Trump’s inauguration.
