Sales of Ivanka Trump’s brand dropped sharply at Nordstrom: report

Ivanka Trump’s fashion brand faced declining sales at Nordstrom in the last fiscal year, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday, citing internal store data.

The brand’s sales dropped 32 percent overall for the year, the report said.

Nordstrom’s refusal to carry Trump’s brand sparked a flurry of criticism this week, with President Trump and other top White House figures coming to Ivanka’s defense.

“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!” the president tweeted on Wednesday.

Trump’s top aide Kellyanne Conway on Thursday told viewers to purchase Ivanka Trump’s products during a Fox News interview, drawing accusations of impropriety.

The company has maintained that its decision to drop Ivanka Trump’s line had nothing to do with politics.

“Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn’t make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now,” a Nordstrom spokeswoman said this week.
