Sen. Rubio to release book after midterms

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) plans to release a new book following the 2014 midterm elections, according to his publisher.

{mosads}The book, which is not yet titled, is “about the future of the country and the future of the Republican Party,” according to Adrian Zackheim, who heads the Sentinel imprint of Penguin Books.

Sentinel also published Rubio’s first book, a memoir entitled “An American Son.”

It’s not yet clear if Rubio will write the book himself or collaborate with a ghost writer.

News of Rubio’s book is only likely to fan expectations that the Florida senator is ramping up for a White House bid in 2016.

Since taking a prominent role in the immigration reform debate, Rubio has sought to pivot back to the right to shore up some of the support among conservatives that eroded during that fight.

Late last month, he faced hecklers angry with his leadership on immigration reform at a Tea Party summit in his home state.

Rubio didn’t once mention immigration reform during his speech at Americans for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream Summit in Orlando.

Rubio is one of a handful of conservative senators leading the push to defund ObamaCare, and has pledged to oppose any budget that provides funding for the law.

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney penned his book, “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness,” in 2010 ahead of his bid for the party’s nomination, and President Obama wrote “The Audacity of Hope” two years before he won the Democratic Party’s nomination.

Other potential 2016 presidential contenders are also slated to publish books ahead of campaign season. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expected to publish a book in June 2014, discussing her tenure at the State Department, her relationship with President Obama and an outlook of her vision for the country’s foreign policy. Clinton, like Rubio, has previously penned a memoir.
