DC police identify 12 victims in Washington Navy Yard shooting

All 12 victims killed at Monday morning’s Washington Navy Yard shooting have been identified by Metropolitan Police. Seven names were first released early Tuesday, followed by the remaining five later that morning.

Kenneth Bernard Proctor, 46

Vishnu Pandit, 61 

On Monday, law enforcement officials identified Aaron Alexis, 34, as the lone shooter who was killed on the scene at the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters at the Navy Yard. 

There had been initial reports of potentially two additional gunmen, but police said Monday night that Alexis had acted alone. 

{mosads}He is allegedly responsible for killing 12 people Monday morning in that building that housed about 3,000 people. About eight other people were wounded in the shooting, including a District police officer. 

The District’s chief of police, Cathy Lanier, says most of the victims were civilian employees and contractors. 

Those injured have been given eligibility to check into Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. 

 Flags will fly at half-staff at the White House and at the U.S. Capitol until Friday. At Washington’s Naval building, flags are flying at half-mast.
