Obama drops in Nielsen ratings again

Well, his time slot was going up against “Daisy of Love” on VH-1. The Hollywood Reporter rounds up President Obama’s sinking viewership in three primetime press conferences:

  • Feb. 9: 49.5 million (10 networks)
  • March 24: 40.4 million (10 networks)
  • April 29: 28.8 million (9 networks)

That’s a 42 percent drop from the first primetime presser to the third.

The president’s 100th day fell on a night where the White House was likely hoping it could grab a chunk of the viewers sticking around for the 9 p.m. “American Idol” results show. But then Fox opted out of the press conference and showed the series “Lie to Me” instead. “Lie to Me” ended up winning the 8 p.m. time slot with 7.8 million viewers.
