Mother of Eric Garner meets with Omarosa at White House: report

The mother of Eric Garner, an African-American man who died after being placed in a chokehold by police, met with top Trump aide Omarosa Manigault at the White House on Wednesday to talk about her son’s case, American Urban Radio Networks reported.

Garner’s mother Gwenn Carr said that Manigault vowed to look into Garner’s case and apparently phoned the Justice Department in an attempt to do so.

“I want this Justice Department to be fair,” Carr said. “I want them to look into my son’s case objectively, and I’m hoping that we get a positive outcome.”

{mosads}When asked what such an outcome would look like, Carr said that she wanted “to see that the police officers that day that caused my son’s death stand accountable for their gross misconduct and are punished for it.”

Garner died in 2014 as police attempted to arrest him for allegedly selling loose cigarettes in the Staten Island borough of New York City. Video of his death shows the arresting officers putting him in what appears to be a chokehold, while Garner yells that he “can’t breathe.”

The City of New York settled with Garner’s family out of court in 2015, agreeing to pay $5.9 million.
