Bannon: ‘I’m not some angry guy’

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon discussed how a prosperous global investment career led him to become a nationalist adviser to President Trump in an a rare interview with The Washington Post published Friday.

“I have lived all over the world, worked all over the world, financed with great partners all over the world,” Bannon said. “I’m not some angry guy sitting there. I think I have a pretty good feel for the direction of Europe, Asia and the United States, almost 40 years of experience.”

Bannon previously served as campaign chairman for Trump and was one of his first hires as president-elect, joining the White House team as chief strategist.

{mosads}He is a controversial figure, formerly serving as chairman of Breitbart News, a website Bannon once called the “platform of the alt-right.”

The Washington Post interview detailed Bannon’s past and business career, including his experience as chairman of Breitbart News and time spent in the U.S. Navy and his work with the prince of Saudi Arabia.

“Those out of the room are out of the deal,” Bannon said of his past business deals. “Once you make your way into the room, you stay.”
