GOP rep faces jeers, protests at Utah town hall

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) was booed by a group of about 1,000 protestors as he defended GOP policies during a town hall in Salt Lake City on Friday.

According to the Associated Press, the protesters urged the congressman to “do your job” by investigating the connection between President Trump’s team and Russia.

{mosads}When asked if he was concerned about Russian interference in the 2016 election or leaks of classified information, Stewart said he is “equally concerned about both and we want to find out the answer to both.”

Stewart managed to get applause after he told the crowd that “It’s my job to be here,” according to AP.

In February, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah.) faced a crowd of angry protesters during a town hall event. Chaffetz was eventually shouted down by demonstrators who he later accused of being paid protesters.

Prior to Stewart’s event, Democratic state Sen. Jim Dabakis handed out Russian rubles to dozens of attendees to make sure that they were also “paid,” according to the report.
