A majority of Americans favor an independent investigation into President Trump’s potential ties to Russia, a new poll finds.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey released Saturday found that 52 percent of Americans favored a probe, while only 23 percent were opposed.
{mosads}The results were highly partisan, with more than three-quarters of Democrats favoring the investigation, while just a quarter of Republicans felt the same.
The survey also revealed that 62 percent of Americans are at least somewhat concerned about the possibility that the Trump’s campaign had inappropriate contacts with the Russian government.
Overall, the poll found that 42 percent of Americans consider Trump’s relationship with Russia to be important, 19 percent believe it is moderately important, and 37 percent did not find it important.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll surveyed a pool of 1,110 adults between March 23-27. The margin of error is 4 percent.
