American Legion pleased with Napolitano’s apology

David Rehbein, commander of the American Legion, said on Fox News just a few minutes ago that their meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano today went “very well” as they discussed the outrage over a DHS memo that cited returning veterans among the possible right-wing extremist threats.

Rehbein said Napolitano “gave a very sincere apology.”

“She distinctly used the words ‘I’m sorry,'” Rehbein said, noting that she opened the meeting with the apology.

Napolitano, said Rehbein, told them that the report “was released before being properly vetter.”

“Whether it ever crossed [Napolitano’s] desk, I’m not sure.”
