White House congratulates chemical weapons watchdog for Nobel win

Carney was asked Friday if the Nobel committee had erred in not awarding the prize to Malala Yousafzai, a 16-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban after promoting education for women.

In response, Carney said that “there’s an enormous amount of good work being done around the world on behalf of peace, and all of it should be recognized.”

“That young woman’s courage and efforts are remarkable, and the president absolutely honors them, as so many people around the world do,” he said.
