ATF allows whistle-blower’s book to go forward

{mosads}The report said it is unclear if Dodson would be able to receive compensation from the book, given the governmentwide ban on receiving pay for writing related to an employee’s official duties. That decision will be left up the Justice Department’s ethics office.

Earlier this month, the ATF said it was preventing publication because the book could hurt morale, according to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is representing Dodson.

The ACLU wrote a letter to the ATF urging it to reconsider, arguing that the agency’s decision “runs afoul of constitutional protections.” 

Two GOP lawmakers who helped lead the charge to investigate the agency’s gun-walking effort had scolded the agency for not allowing the book to go forward. 

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) had a part in the book, penning the forward.
