Poll: Majority no longer thinks Trump keeps his promises

A majority of Americans no longer thinks President Trump keeps his promises, according to a new survey.

A Gallup poll out early Monday finds only 45 percent of Americans think the president keeps his promises, down from 62 percent in a poll taken in February.

In the recent poll, just 40 percent of women think Trump keeps his promises, compared to 51 percent of men. Only 16 percent of Democrats think Trump keeps his promises, while 81 percent of Republicans agree.

{mosads}The poll also finds that fewer Americans now see Trump as a strong and decisive leader who can bring about changes the country needs.

A slim majority, 52 percent, sees Trump as a strong and decisive leader in the recent poll, down from 59 percent in February. Only 46 percent of Americans think the president is someone who can bring about the change the country needs, down from 53 percent in February.

Only 36 percent of respondents view Trump as honest and trustworthy in the recent poll, while 41 percent think he can manage the government effectively.

The new survey was conducted from April 5 to 9 among 1,019 adults. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.

Trump has yet to fulfill many of his campaign promises, including repealing ObamaCare.

During an interview last week — conducted after the survey — Trump shifted or reversed his position on matters of foreign and economic policy, including how to handle China and the future of Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen.
