A majority of Americans in a new poll says that corporations and upper-income individuals do not pay enough taxes.
According to a Gallup poll survey released early Tuesday, 67 percent of respondents said that corporations do not pay enough taxes, while 63 percent say the same about wealthy Americans.
Only 19 percent of Americans said that corporations pay their fair share in taxes, and 9 percent responded that corporations pay too much.
Almost a quarter, 24 percent, said the wealthy pay enough taxes, while 10 percent said that upper-income individuals pay too much.
A slim majority, 51 percent, said that middle-class Americans pay too much in taxes. Forty-eight percent said the same about lower-income people.

The survey comes as the White House is planning to undertake a substantive tax reform effort, with President Trump seeking to encourage job growth and investment.
The Gallup poll surveyed a pool of 1,019 adults from April 5 to 9. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.
