Bush gives $25,000 to Gillespie’s Va. governor campaign

Former President George W. Bush donated $25,000 to Virginia Republican Ed Gillespie’s campaign for governor, CNN reported Tuesday.

Gillespie was a campaign adviser to Bush in 2000 and later became a White House counselor.

The sizable donation was disclosed in Gillespie’s recent campaign finance reports, according to CNN.

{mosads}Bush previously gave $25,000 to Gillespie’s political action committee in 2016 and attended a Gillespie fundraiser as a special guest in March.

Gillespie is currently the front-runner in the GOP’s gubernatorial primary race and will face the chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Corey Stewart, and state Sen. Frank Wagner for the party’s nomination on June 13. 

The election will take place in November.
