Obama said ObamaCare more popular than Trump: report
Former President Obama said at a private event Thursday that his signature healthcare legislation is more popular than President Trump, jabbing at his successor for trying to repeal his signature legislation, according to CNN.
Paraphrasing Obama, an attendee reportedly said the former president told the New York crowd that “The Affordable Care Act has never been more popular — and it’s more popular than the current president.”
Trump has had historically low approval ratings, with a recent CNN poll showing that after about 100 days in office, just 44 percent approve of Trump’s work as president. The same survey showed that 47 percent of Americans like ObamaCare.
{mosads}The GOP revived a push to repeal ObamaCare this week after leaders pulled their initial effort from the House floor last month amid flagging Republican support.
At least21 Republicans have said they would vote against the revised GOP healthcare bill negotiated by centrist Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) and conservative Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.). On Thursday, a vote on the new bill was pushed back.
