MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Friday aired footage she said was from behind the scenes of the GOP’s Georgia House special election candidate taping commercial footage.
The video was apparently meant to be b-roll footage — silent video clips of politicians speaking to constituents or working behind a desk, that are usually accompanied by voiceovers in campaign ads.
But the clips of Karen Handel, the Republican candidate in Georgia’s 6th congressional district, turned up online with the audio included.
The videos feature Handel talking about a taco restaurant’s margaritas and seeming to joke about getting “barked at.”
{mosads}Maddow noted that politicians frequently record similar videos that are later used for advertisements by political organizations and campaigns.
However, in most cases the volume is muted since the politicians often speak gibberish for the purposes of capturing the most visually appealing facial expressions.
