Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Wednesday slammed President Trump’s Army secretary nominee Mark Green for his past comments about Muslims and the LGBT community, saying he should be disqualified from consideration.

“@realDonaldTrump’s nominee for Army Secretary – Dr Mark Green – has made hateful & ignorant comments about our fellow Americans,” Warren tweeted.

“Muslims, Latinos, & LGBTQ Americans protect our country. They’re part of service member families. They’re part of our great American family.”

{mosads}Warren wrote that Green’s controversial comments “disqualify him” from holding a leadership position in the future.

“Our military force’s diversity is its greatest strength. The Army Secretary must show genuine support for ALL of our men & women in uniform,” she said.

“There is no place for bigotry in the US Army. Dr Mark Green’s comments disqualify him from leadership.”

Green, a former U.S. military veteran, has been under fire over a number of comments he made in the past.

Last September, Green asserted that “if you poll the psychiatrists, they’re going to tell you transgender is a disease,” according to CNN.

He also reportedly rejected the theory of evolution, suggesting that the universe could have actually been created by intelligent design.
