Michael Moore calls Comey firing ‘obstruction of justice’

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore on Thursday strongly criticized President Trump’s firing of the FBI Director James Comey, calling the move an “obstruction of justice.”

Trump’s decision to oust the FBI director this week sparked a wave of outrage among Democrats and some Republicans, who questioned the timing of the move.

{mosads}Comey was involved in investigating potential links between Trump’s campaign team and Russian government officials. The Russian probe, Trump admitted after the ouster, played into his reasoning.

“And in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story,’” Trump told NBC News. “It’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won … This was an excuse for having lost an election.”

The president has defended his decision to fire Comey, arguing that the FBI director lost confidence of the American people and government officials.

“Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!” Trump said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Trump also reiterated his point that collusion between Russians and the Trump campaign is a story used by the Democrats “as an excuse for losing the election.”

“Again, the story that there was collusion between the Russians & Trump campaign was fabricated by Dems as an excuse for losing the election,” Trump tweeted Friday.
