RNC slams Clinton speech as example of ‘why she lost’

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is still taking shots at Hillary Clinton, seven months after she lost the presidential election. 

“Today’s speech was a stark reminder why Hillary Clinton lost in 2016,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said in a statement following the former Democratic presidential nominee’s commencement speech to Wellesley College on Friday.

{mosads}”Instead of lashing out with the same partisan talking points, Hillary Clinton would be wise to look inward, talk about why she lost, and expand the dwindling base of Democrat Party supporters – we won’t hold our breath though,” McDaniel continued.

The former secretary of State compared President Trump to former President Richard Nixon in her speech.

“We were furious about the past presidential election of a man whose presidency would eventually end in disgrace with his impeachment for obstruction of justice,” she said, before clarifying she was speaking about Nixon: “After firing the person heading the investigation into him at the Department of Justice.” 

Clinton went on to advise the graduating class at her alma mater not to let negative rhetoric get to them, implicitly referring to Trump as a troll.

“There will be trolls galore, online and in person, eager to tell you that you don’t have anything worthwhile to say, or anything meaningful to contribute. They may even call you a nasty woman,” Clinton said to cheers, in a reference to Trump calling her the name during a 2016 presidential debate.

Clinton has become more candid in her political commentary in recent months after losing to Trump.

She told CNN in May that she would have won the election if it were not for WikiLeaks and then-FBI Director James Comey’s decision to release a letter regarding the FBI investigation into her use of a private email server days before the election.  

She launched her own political action committee earlier this month called Onward Together.
