Maher: Trump ‘had a worse week than me’
HBO talk show host Bill Maher may have had a bad week, considering he was forced to apologize for using the n-word on his show last weekend, but on Friday night he said President Trump had a worse one.
“Thank you for letting a sinner in your midst,” he said during his opening monologue on “Real Time.” “There is someone who had a worse week than me, Donald Trump. Did you watch the Comey testimony?”
Former FBI Director Jim Comey testified before a Senate committee on Thursday that Trump “lied” multiple times as well as directed Comey to back off part of his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between members of Trump’s campaign and Moscow. Trump later fired Comey.
Trump denies Comey’s allegations.
“It’s all part of the campaign Republicans have to make America day drunk again,” Maher said, in a play on Trump’s “Make America great again” catchphrase. In Washington, D.C., multiple bars opened early and had drink specials during the Thursday hearing.
