AIG takes sign off building

These are somber days at AIG’s New York offices. Employees at one of the company’s offices in the city removed the AIG sign from the building, perhaps trying to ward off angry protestors.

Meanwhile, workers over the weekend took down the American International Group Inc. sign outside the entrance to its Water St. offices.

“That building is the headquarters for our property casualty business and it was being mistaken for our main headquarters,” AIG spokeswoman Christina Pretto said Monday.

Last week, management issued a memo advising employees to “avoid wearing any AIG apparel (bags, shirts, umbrellas, etc.) with the company insignia.”
