One America News Network CEO is pulling offer to O’Reilly

One America News Network’s CEO announced on Twitter Tuesday that he will be pulling an offer to former Fox News star Bill O’Reilly that “could have paid him more than he made at Fox.”

“We contacted him in April, he sent us to his agent,” Herring told the Hill in an email. “They told us they were not ready to decide what they would do.”

“They were to take a meeting in late May,” Herring continues. “We sent them a solid proposal first week in June they have not responded so we pulled our offer so that we can pursue other talent.”

“He has been talking about starting his own endeavor and we wish him luck and would help him if we can,” Herring concludes. O’Reilly recently did an interview with One America Network (OANN), a San Diego-based right-leaning cable news channel that launched in 2013 and has national distribution on DirecTV, Verizon Fios and AT&T U-verse. The channel can be seen in approximately 35 million homes.

Fox News cut ties with O’Reilly earlier this year in the wake of sexual harassment charges that had led 90 advertisers to leave his program.

The end for O’Reilly at Fox began when The New York Times reported on April 1 that five women were paid $13 million to settle sexual harassment claims against the host. 

More than 50 advertisers pulled ads from “The O’Reilly Factor” program and the 67-year-old one-time CBS News correspondent and “Inside Edition” host was ousted on April 19.

O’Reilly reportedly received a severance package upon departing Fox for $25 million, or one year’s salary. “The O’Reilly Factor” had been the most-watched cable news show for the past 15 years. 

O’Reilly currently hosts a podcast Monday-Thursday and is also touring with comedian Dennis Miller for “The Spin Stops Here” show.
