Ivanka ordered to testify in dispute over shoe design

First daughter Ivanka Trump has been ordered by a judge to testify regarding a dispute with an Italian shoemaker, who has accused Trump of copying one of its shoe designs.

“Ms. Trump’s public statements regarding active and comprehensive brand management lead to a reasonable inference that the shoe at issue would not have been released without her approval,” U.S. District Judge Katherine Forrest said in the ruling.

“In such a situation a deposition is appropriate,” she continued.

The judge said the first daughter must submit questions in a deposition that should occur prior to October. Trump has the option to complete the deposition in Washington.

Aquazzura Italia SRL has accused Trump of creating a “virtually identical” knockoff of its Wild Thing Shoe.

The first daughter, who has an office the White House, denied having any involvement in the design.

“I had no involvement in the conception, design, production or sale of the ‘Hettie Shoe,'” Trump said.

“My involvement was strictly limited to the final sign-off of each season’s line after it was first reviewed and approved by the company’s design team,” she continued.
