Poll: 71 percent say Trump’s tweets are hurting his agenda

Seventy-one percent of voters say that President Trump’s tweets are hurting his agenda, according to a new Fox News poll.

The poll was conducted Sunday through Tuesday, before Trump tweeted Thursday attacking the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

According to the poll, 87 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of independents believe Trump’s tweets are hurting his agenda, while 53 percent of Republicans agreed.

The poll also asked participants if they considered Trump’s tweets to be official statements from the president, with answers splitting along partisan lines.

Nearly 60 percent of Democrats said Trump’s tweets should be considered official statements, while 52 percent of Republicans said they shouldn’t be considered official.

Trump has used Twitter as one of his most direct platforms to communicate with the public since becoming president, often using his account to hit media outlets and challenge reports.

His frequent use of the social media site has led many to question the meaning behind some of his tweets during White House press briefings.
