Poll: Women paying more attention to politics since Trump’s election

Women are paying more attention to politics since the 2016 election, according to a new Pew Research survey.

58 percent of women polled said they paid more attention to politics after President Trump’s election win, versus 46 percent of men.

The increased interest in politics appears to include women on both sides of the political spectrum, with 63 percent of Democratic women saying they have paid more attention to politics, while 54 percent of Republican women said the same.

{mosads}51 percent of Democratic men reported being more attentive to politics in the wake of the election, compared to 43 percent of Republican men.

Gender issues repeatedly came up in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Hillary Clinton became the first woman to lead a major party’s ticket, while issues such as wage equality, women’s health and reproductive rights were raised during the campaign.

The president’s second day in office witnessed Women’s marches across the globe. 

The survey was conducted June 27 to July 9 among a sample of 2,505 adults living in the U.S.
