Waters: Mueller is ‘going to win’
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) expressed her confidence in Robert Mueller on Friday, saying the special counsel leading the probe into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia would “win.”
“Mueller is going to win,” Waters, a vocal critic of President Trump, told Chris Hayes on MSNBC.
“Drip by drip, people are finding out that there’s more to this than some people thought, and of course there’s been a lot of smoke, and even now I think that people are believing there’s some fire,” she continued.

Waters pushed back on critics who argue that past donations to Democratic campaigns represent a conflict of interest for Mueller and his team.
“They are going to put their little team together, the right wingers, and they’re going to roll out everyday with a new accusation, but it’s not going to hold,” she said.
Her comments come after recent reports suggesting a widening investigation under Mueller, who was appointed by the Justice Department to lead the federal probe into Russia’s election interference.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Mueller had impaneled a grand jury in Washington to examine subpoenaed documents, listen to witness testimony and ultimately decide whether criminal charges are warranted.
